SSC Stenographer Syllabus 2017
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts stenographer exam. Now moving the Syllabus for steno exam. Before that we will discuss exam pattern in brief to given you an idea of pattern of this exam.
SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2017 is going to conduct written exam on 04-09-2017 to 07-09-2017. This exam will be Computer Based Exam.

SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern
Lets check the scheme of computer based written examination in detail. First we will cover written exam pattern and then skill test pattern.
Steno Written Exam Pattern
Total duration of exam will be 2 hrs for all the parts in written exam. refer below chart for better understanding.
Question paper Type: Objective Multiple choice
Questions will be set in Hindi and English except Part-III.
Negative Marking: Yes, There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

As above chart shows, total time for this exam will be 2 hrs and 2 hrs 40 min for VH/OH candidates. Maximum marks you can score is 200 and you have to attempt 200 questions as well.

SSC Stenographer Skill Test Exam Pattern
All the candidates who clear the cut off for written exam will be appearing in skill test.
Nature of Exam: Only qualifying
Medium: Hindi or English (You need to mark your preference while filling application form. If you leave your preference blank then it will be consider as English.
The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade C and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade D.
The matter will have to be transcribed on computer.

Indicative Syllabus for Computer Based Mode Examination as below,
General Intelligence & Reasoning Syllabus
It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.
General Awareness Syllabus
Questions will be designed to test the ability of general awareness of the environment around candidates and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its Neighboring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and
Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
English Language & Comprehension Syllabus
